paperless assessment digital value auditor supervisor student learning teaching network
A short moment ago I recorded what is for me one of the longest episodic refelctions in live video recording since the heady days of installation performance Art I was involved in at Curtin University back in 1996 and 1997.
As I stated in the video, which I have shared across the entire community here, the concept of a paperless skills assessment methodology and authenticated, sustainable and above all engaging context must be rid of the idea that rich media erases the need for paper.
The concept is rather, for me, more intriduing when we look at the value we bestow upon the reliability of the host, how and what ways we can complement that retracable digital assest and how , with permission, upon authentication, assessment, validation and audit that the asset is then injected back into the teaching and learning process.
I look forward to "conversing" with Simon further on this and digging deeper into some of the challenges faced by those that can see value in rich media paperless assessment.
I think the ideal of a paperless assessment is achievable if the organisations we work for can catch up to the assessors who can see the incredible potential of this system.
When the hierarchy understand they are there to support the teachers then maybe we will see progress in this area.
It will be the smaller RTO's that will champion this area of methodology and it is here it will grow.
A key requirement will be to satisfy the Auditors in regards the authenticity of the students assessment, once these requirements are met and acknowledged by the Auditors there is no reason this ideal cannot be achieved
The monetary benefits for this type of assessment far outway the alternative

I just posted and shared a video in response to your comments here - not sure if the video makes sense! "Working towards a paperless system - explaining the benefits to at first enhance and then replace the current paper-based system with a media-rich archive"
